Met Ball 2014

For those of you who are not familiar with The Met Gala, which was formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, it’s an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It also serves as the opening celebration for the institute’s annual fashion exhibit. It is regarded by many as one of the most exclusive social events in New York and one of the biggest fundraising nights of the city with a reported nine million dollars raised in 2013. The affair, attended by personalities from the arts, fashion and entertainment, has been held at the Met since 1971 and is considered to be the fashion industry’s premier annual red carpet event. I was able to drop by before the gala on Monday afternoon and the energy surrounding The Met was pure excitement. …Still swooning over the Olsen twins.

Yesterday, I attended my second PURE event in NYC, the first being a retreat upstate. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Pure, it is a community of women from around the globe that seek to be drawn together for friendship, networking, and spiritual growth. PURE has recognized the need woman have to “get real” with one another about their struggles and challenges in life. I was introduced to PURE through one of its founders, Melissa Tamplin. Melissa was in my Dad’s youth group when he was in youth ministry. The blessings gained from the legacy my Dad has left (and is continuing to leave) for Whitney, Travis and I, is overwhelming at times. Melissa has quickly become a role model for me, both spiritually and professionally. Reflecting after the PURE Brunch I was struck again with how powerful a group of women can be. Through different conversations I have been apart of in NYC, whether its been over coffee, in a friend’s kitchen, at events, or my own self reflection, there is much to …
