Our Honeymoon: Jade Mountain St. Lucia

Here’s a little insight into the beginning of our honeymoon: After the most amazing wedding, Luke and I missed our first flight to Atlanta and then Saint Lucia the morning after our ceremony. BUT let me just say, we were so happy to be married that the delay didn’t both us and we welcomed a new flight to Atlanta and then on to Saint Lucia the next day (we even extended our trip one day so we didn’t end up missing out on any days in the Saint Lucia sun!).

We spent a little over a week in paradise and enjoyed our first Christmas in our three walled sanctuary. It was the most unbelievable trip either of us have ever been on and it’s all thanks to Jade Mountain in beautiful Saint Lucia.

Our room at Jade Mountain was completely out of this world. JE3. When we return I plan on requesting it every time.

The walkway to the front door of our sanctuary was long and wide. Each sanctuary has a private walkway that only it’s guests and their butler frequent.

There is no fourth wall so the room is open to gorgeous views of the famous Pitons. You’ll see in photos above that our view of the Pitons was visible from every part of our room…our bed, the upstairs jacuzzi and of course our layout chairs next to our extravagant private infinity pool .

The estate encompasses 600 lush tropical acres bordering two soft sand beaches. The silver sand beaches at Jade Mountain are a short walk through its sister resort, Anse Chastanet. There are lots and lots of stairs, which I enjoyed, but if you’d rather take a ride down you can call your butler from your Jade Mountain cell phone and have them bring up a car.

We did every possible beach activity (there are so many to choose from!). My personal favorites were standup paddle boarding and kayaking. Luke loved snorkeling as Jade Mountain is in the heart of St.Lucia’s very best diving: the entire region surrounding Anse Chastanet is vested into an award winning marine reserve.

Another highlight of our trip was touring Jade Mountain’s Emerald Estate. Luke and I loved the ‘Bean to Bar’ private tour that shows you how Jade Mountain makes their world famous chocolate. We met some of the local farmers that work at the estate and loved hearing their stories. Our new friend, Martin, is a 6th generation farmer from Soufriere. We ate fruit off the trees and played guessing games as to what we were looking at-Fun Fact: Luke knew everything ;).

After touring the estate we headed back to the resort and directly to Jade Mountain’s Chocolate Factory for a taste test.

We so enjoyed the Christmas Eve cocktail hour with Jade Mountain’s lovely owner, Karolin Troubetzkoy. It was a pleasure meeting you Karolin!

Santa even stopped by our sanctuary to say hello!

After taking a yoga class on Christmas morning we relaxed on the beach until it was time for our private sunset cruise. This was one of the most amazing wedding gifts from our dear friends the Dowds. Side note: Tiffany Dowd introduced me to Jade Mountain a few years ago and for that I am forever thankful. We love you Tiffany!

Getting up close and personal with 12 dolphins at our bow.

Our private sailboat ride is my favorite memory from our honeymoon. At one point, as we were picking up speed 12 dolphins came and swam on either side of the boat. I couldn’t help but run to the bow (while holding on-might I add!) and tried to soak in every moment. I ended up getting soaked with seawater too but it was well worth it. 🙂

The next day? Up and ready by 6:30AM for a hike up the Pitons! Gros Piton is one of two mountains south of the town Soufrière in the southwest of Saint Lucia. Lying at the southern end of Pitons Bay, it rises to a height of 786 m. It is the second highest peak on Saint Lucia, after Mount Gimie. It took us a whole 4 hours to complete the hike with our 67-year-old guide. I asked him how many times he had hiked the Pitons and he said he lost count years ago. As a teenager he helped create the trail and at one point was hiking the mountain 3 times a day.

To recover from the hike we spent the afternoon back at Jade’s Kai Mer Spa and enjoyed a couple’s massage.

I’ve had many friends who are planning their honeymoon ask me about my experience at Jade Mountain. All I can say is if you want the ultimate in privacy, luxury, creativity, cuisine, and scenery there is no better place to go than Jade Mountain Saint Lucia.

Thank you to Jade Mountain and your incredible team for the greatest honeymoon we could have ever imagined! We will be seeing you again as soon as possible. 🙂
