Our Providence Trip: Brown University

This past weekend we did the cross country trek to visit Luke’s alma mater, Brown University. It was well worth the trip. We went so I could have a peek into Luke’s college experience and see his former team in action at the Brown vs. Harvard game. Before meeting and then marrying Luke, my only connection to Brown was that Blake Lively’s character played soccer there in ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ Franchise and Emma Watson was an alum (one of Luke’s classmates I might add). I’m glad I’ve gained some perspective and was able to see the university through Luke’s eyes. 😉 Going to Brown was an easy choice for Luke once he knew he got in and would continue playing football but it didn’t make the Texas to Rhode Island transition any easier. This trip gave me a greater understanding of how hard he worked, how strong he was in the face of adversity and how loving he is to all people, including those who are very different than him. Whitney’s Bachelorette Weekend

Two weeks ago I was in Texas to host my twin sister’s Bachelorette Weekend. Whitney had decided months ago she wanted to have a getaway with her bridesmaids and friends at a lake house and luckily for us some very generous friends let us take over their incredible house for the weekend. We started off the weekend with dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas called True Food. My order is consistently the Tuscan Kale Caesar Salad with Salmon. If they ever take that off the menu, I have no idea what I’ll do. After dinner we carpooled out the lake and setup to fiesta! As a newlywed there’s something very special about time away with girlfriends, especially time with Whitney before she becomes a McIntosh. I always miss Luke and am constantly making mental notes of funny things that happen to share with him but it was so sweet to be present with Whitney, fully available to celebrate her in person.
