Two weeks ago I was in Texas to host my twin sister’s Bachelorette Weekend. Whitney had decided months ago she wanted to have a getaway with her bridesmaids and friends at a lake house and luckily for us some very generous friends let us take over their incredible house for the weekend.
We started off the weekend with dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas called True Food. My order is consistently the Tuscan Kale Caesar Salad with Salmon. If they ever take that off the menu, I have no idea what I’ll do. After dinner we carpooled out the lake and setup to fiesta!
As a newlywed there’s something very special about time away with girlfriends, especially time with Whitney before she becomes a McIntosh. I always miss Luke and am constantly making mental notes of funny things that happen to share with him but it was so sweet to be present with Whitney, fully available to celebrate her in person.
The weekend was ‘fiesta’ themed and we kicked it off with queso, guacamole, chips and salsa. My mom and grandmother did an amazing job preparing all of our meals with the theme in mind, which made for a delicious weekend! We went on a run, threw on some sunscreen and went out on the boat. We tubed all morning and wake boarded in the afternoon. The tubbing was no joke and Ramie and I have battle wounds to prove it! At one point we flew off and it was caught on camera. I was so glad because it felt like we had flown 20 feet into the air and slammed skulls before falling back into the water. To our great disappointment (and my shock) it looks like we just gently let go of the tube and slipped nicely into the water. Hilarious now but very confusing at the time as to how something so painful could look so easy. Too funny!
I was so thankful to see so many of our girlfriends come out for the weekend and celebrate Whitney. The conversation, company and time together was so special to me and I know for Whitney as well.
A huge thank you to the Horners for being such amazing hosts and allowing 15 women to complete take over! It was weekend we’ll never forget. Now…let’s #MakeHeraMcIntosh!
