Finding Professional Inspiration from Other Working Women

I have a whole page on my website dedicated to women I admire, which you can see here BUT this list is constantly growing so today I decided to add a few to my list. Throughout my career and in each season of my life I have found new role models and women that inspire me. I’ve noticed that where I am living at the moment also contributes to who I am looking up to and who I enjoy learning from. When I lived in New York I found my list of role models to be an ever revolving door. Now, living in Los Angeles, that is still the case and many of the women who’s careers I follow are the same but I’ve found even more that inspire my career and help me dream bigger. Being married and now sharing in the west coast lifestyle I’ve found many of the working women I am learning from currently are well-rounded, outdoorsy and creative. Allow me to introduce them! Our SoCal Style

Luke and I have been married for two months…today! I can’t begin to express how FUN these first two months of marriage have been and how thankful I am to have Luke as my husband. I’m so sorry to everyone else who didn’t get to marry him! 😉 As you might have gathered from other posts, only a few days after returning from our honeymoon we packed all of my belongings and moved to our new home in Calabasas. Luke is studying at Pepperdine Law in Malibu. If you’re not familiar with the area, Calabasas is about a 15 minute drive outside of Malibu. I love our home. It’s close to the beach, a dog park, and has beautiful hiking trails in walking distance of our front door. Luke picked out our apartment without me ever seeing it and did a great job. Once we arrived in Calabasas I was eager to unpack our wedding gifts and set up house! Here are a few of my favorite decorative and sentimental pieces we’re enjoying in our first …

Christmas Wish List

Every year my Mom asks me for a Christmas list and in recent years I have been unmotivated to make one. As I’ve grown older and can now support myself, I just don’t find that I am very into getting gifts. I have anything I need and find much more joy in experiences trips, museums, sporting events, concerts, things that aren’t felt but remembered. This year though, really just to help out my Mom as she places presents under the tree for Whitney and Travis, I have decided to make a list. 🙂 WIth the help of some amazing artisans and companies I have found a list of gifts that give back, the very best kind! A Cozy Blanket– Sackcloth & Ashes What kind of company are you? We are a company that sells high-quality blankets in the United States. With every blanket you purchase, we will give a blanket to your local homeless shelter.  I love Sackcloth & Ashes, not just because of their amazing product but because of the idea behind the name. “In …

Recently, I’ve found it extremely rewarding to connect with other women who are pursing something bigger than themselves. No matter where I find myself it seems women everywhere are seeking to bring something of importance to their world, whether that be a family, a career, an idea, art, we all long to contribute. I think Ivanka Trump highlight this is her newest movement to #jointheconversation about #womenwhowork. There are many pieces of our life that don’t make it on to our business cards but those are the details that shape us into the very best daughters, friends, bosses, coworkers, sisters. Met Ball 2014

For those of you who are not familiar with The Met Gala, which was formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, it’s an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It also serves as the opening celebration for the institute’s annual fashion exhibit. It is regarded by many as one of the most exclusive social events in New York and one of the biggest fundraising nights of the city with a reported nine million dollars raised in 2013. The affair, attended by personalities from the arts, fashion and entertainment, has been held at the Met since 1971 and is considered to be the fashion industry’s premier annual red carpet event. I was able to drop by before the gala on Monday afternoon and the energy surrounding The Met was pure excitement. …Still swooning over the Olsen twins.

CC: current crush: Taylor Tomasi Hill

Let’s talk about the fiery red head from my very own Dallas, Texas. The former creative director at Moda Operandi, who left her post in October, is taking on GOOP for fashion week and I for one, cannot wait. The pictures say it all, from her chic features, colorful prints, and unreal apartment, Taylor is my current girlcrush. Might I add when Gwyneth is a fan, I’m a fan?
