Wind River Ranch 2018

A week before my parents and brother, Travis, were headed to Wind River Ranch for our family’s 21st year I decided to join them and I am so glad I did! I wasn’t planning on going this summer because Luke and I have both been really busy with work but Luke was so sweet and really encouraged me to go. Luke loves Wind River as much as I do! My flight to Denver from Los Angeles was cancelled while I was staying at the gate so my sister in law (who was headed home after a fun weekend with us) and I made the quick decision for me to jump on a flight to Vegas and catch another Denver flight there. The Denver airport had been shut down due to weather and I arrived at midnight…yikes! Not my favorite travel day but I’m proud to say I stayed calm, cool and collected with the change of plans. If you have known our family for very long you have probably already heard about Wind River Ranch. …

San Ysidro Ranch

This Memorial Day Weekend Luke and I decided to head north to Santa Barbara with Maui in tow. Neither of us had ever been before and I was so excited to take Luke to one of my bucket list hotels, San Ysidro Ranch. Working in social media myself, I often come across amazing properties through Instagram but I was actually introduced to San Ysidro by my friend Amy. She showed me pictures at lunch one Sunday afternoon at Cora’s Coffee in Santa Monica. I was immediately obsessed. This hideaway, which is nestled in the Montecito foothills of Southern California’s wine country, will take your breath away. It’s blend of pristine nature (almost 500 acres of it), romantic heritage (it’s the setting of John and Jackie Kennedy’s honeymoon retreat) and luxurious accommodations had me wide-eyed and smiling from the moment we pulled into their drive. The origin of the Ranch’s name is embodied in the legend surrounding its namesake, Saint Isidore. San Ysidro (Spanish for Saint Isidore) was born into poverty in Madrid in 1070. He worked …

“Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” Proverbs 18:21

For my birthday in April Luke gave me a package to a popular cycling class in Malibu. We’ve enjoyed going together and I’ve been amazed at how much Luke loves it… maybe more than me. It’s a great work out, lots of fun, and one of the few activities that actually leaves me exhausted afterwards. We love it.  This weekend’s class was similar to all the others we have been to except for one tiny detail, some advice that our instructor gave us that I have not been able to shake.  This class is known for high energy instructors, big personalities, loud music and moments of inspiration. During a challenging part of class our instructor attempted to motivate us with these words of “wisdom.”  “Don’t like your job? Quit! Find a new job! Your boyfriend or girlfriend not working out? Husband or wife? Life is too short!”  I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. Moving on from a boyfriend or girlfriend is one thing but placing that into the same category as husband and wife? Luke …

Protein Pancakes

This recipe is one that Whitney and I found years ago and we still love it! I find pancakes with eggs, sugar and white flour to be far to heavy for me so this is a healthier, lighter option. PROTEIN PANCAKES  1 packet or scoop Perfect Fit Protein 1⁄2 banana, mashed 1⁄2 Tbs unsweetened almond milk 1⁄4 cup egg whites 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp maple syrup Cook like regular pancakes and enjoy!

26 Lessons I Learned by 26

Last week I turned 26 years old. Which is strange because I feel like just last week I was celebrating my Golden Birthday, 25 on April 25th. Turning 25 was fun, it still felt young, it was my first birthday being married and my twin sister, Whitney, was here with us celebrating. Turning 26 was very different. A week before my birthday I received an early morning phone call from one of my best friends to tell me her sister had died in a car accident. Four days later was the funeral of Nancy-Jane David, who felt like a little sister to me in high school. I haven’t shared any of this on my social media platforms out of respect for her family but they have since shared and will continue to. We had all been together just three weeks before at Georgia’s bridal shower. I had not seen Nancy-Jane in a year or two and one of my main takeaways from that shower was NJ. She was stunning. She was smart. She had everything in life to look …

Vanilla Protein Smoothie

This morning, after my workout and catching up with clients, I decided to go ahead and run a few errands. Usually, I’ll make a veggie omelette each morning BUT today I needed something quick to get out the door. My Vanilla Protein Smoothie was the perfect option. VANILLA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE Recipe: 1 cup frozen spinach (I get a bag at Costco and keep it in my freezer.) 1 banana 1 scoop vanilla protein powder from Traders Joe’s 1 tablespoon almond butter 3 ice cubes Blend and enjoy! Preferably on the beach and not in your car running errands. 🙂

Two Delicious Breakfast Bowls

It has been a rainy new year in Southern California! When I moved to California last January it rained on us the whole drive in from the boarder to Calabasas so this weather makes me sentimental to my first few weeks in California. Sometimes on gloomy days I like to brighten up my mornings with colorful breakfast bowls! Here are two of my recent favorites. ACAI BOWL Recipe: 1 Sambazon Acai Smoothie Pack 1 banana (half in smoothie, half as topping). 1/4 cup frozen blueberries (in smoothie). 1/4 cup Purely Elizabeth Original Granola 2 Strawberries Oatmeal Bowl Recipe: 1/4 cup quick oats 1 pack Wild Friends Chocolate + Coconut Peanut Butter 2 strawberries 1 banana 1/4 cup Purely Elizabeth Original Granola I hope this brightens up your Foguary! 😉 Let me know if you try either of the delicious and healthy options above.
